The Beatles of mid-1963 are obviously a fantastic live band with two classic singles and some nice songwriting ideas but show only a few signs of greatness musically and none at all lyrically. They especially seem to struggle with writing decent bridges.
As only one of the classic singles appears on the album I’d rate Please Please Me = 4/10 from a songwriters point of view.
I'm at this stage of songwriting, coming up with a decent bridge or a bridge at all.
